  4. on the site of the ascension.
  5. Although it was erected by
  6. the caliph 'Abd al-Malik, it is
  7. still mistakenly referred to as
  8. the Mosque of Omar. Omar
  9. did in fact build a haphazard
  10. structure on the Temple
  11. Mount, south of the rock,
  12. probably at the site where the
  13. al-Aqsa mosque was later
  14. constructed.
